Some dark irony here is that epidemiologists are pretty sure (through genetic analysis) that the coronavirus reached the United States via Europe.
Viruses are global problems because humanity exists in a global community that national borders barely constrain.
The coronavirus is a human problem because humanity exists on this planet together.
The very act of trying to blame a virus on a particular group of people is racist and nationalist at the same time. It’s also ridiculous. Should we start examining the geographic origin of every virus in human history? They all originated somewhere.
But Trump knows how well racism and nationalism sell. So he did what he does best — stirred up hatred.
Did you hear that just the day before yesterday he answered calls to urge conservatives to take vaccines, and once again he spouted his racist China-virus nonsense.
It’s just infuriating.
