So true about rural people! Not so unlike many Americans, I live in a very small village quite far from any major city.

We absolutely rely on the postal service out here. When politicians start to talk about de-funding the postal service, people out here cluck and moan. We need it, and we think of it as an essential American infrastructure service.

Maybe people who live in big cities don’t get it. They can just pay for some alternative service. But we can’t. We have a post office in the village, but to use any alternative means driving an hour somewhere.

So when Trump threatens to raise postal rates or let the USPS collapse, that’s a huge quality of life problem.

Like much of rural America, though, people out here vote Republican much of the time. So, yeah, why isn’t the Democratic Party hammering this?
