So, this logistics challenge is not trivial. I live in a rural area with four pharmacies within a 30-minute drive of my house. One of them is a tiny operation located in a small grocery store. In the other direction is a small town with pharmacies in chain-store locations like Walmart.
So who pays for the $20,000 freezer? And which pharmacies receive it? I’m pretty sure the small grocery store isn’t going to be able to afford it. So I wonder if programs will be available to get them one.
As for the Walmart and other locations, those chains have massive operations across the country. How long will it take them to supply the necessary equipment to their thousands of stores? For that matter, how long will it take to ramp up manufacturing of these freezers, which are presumably not just sitting around gathering dust on shelves.
I’m supposing it’s going to be a pretty difficult operation, but I don’t see any evidence that political leadership at the national level is looking at this.
I hope more is going on than meets the eye.
