So, I live near that Michigan public library that voters defunded and want to close because librarians won't remove books with LGBTQ characters.
That situation really illustrates the sexualization thing you're writing about. During a library board meeting last month, residence vociferously objected to, among other things, Alice Oseman's Heartstopper graphic novels, calling them pornography.
Heartstopper, for anyone who's been unplugged for the last year, ... wait for it ... doesn't feature any sex. At all.
The graphic novels are slightly less g-rated than the popular Netflix adaptation, but they're still something parents are comfortable reading with preteens. PG, maybe. PG-13? Not even.
Some people just refuse to think about LGBTQ folks as anything less than centrally sexual. It's crazy. Truly!
Also, great seeing your TV spot. I love how you handled the topic.
