So, have you seen the trend of YouTube videos of people being hilarious as they come out of anesthesia?

I watched one the other night where a young man (maybe 16 or 17 years old) had been getting a broken arm set, and his mom was there with him as he came out from under whatever it is they gave him for pain.

He was indeed very funny, not quite coherent, being silly for the most part, with a deep South accent, probably Alabama or Georgia if I had to try to pin it down.

Then he started talking about being gay and having a boyfriend.

Mom, stylishly dressed and coiffed, gasped in shock. "You'd better NOT be! We'll have a serious talk about this at home!"

Then she laughed it off, like what he'd said was as much of a joke as some of the incoherence the anesthesia had prompted.

I don't know if he's gay or not, but if he is, coming out is going to be super rough.

Like it is for so many people.

It's like we live in a nation of polar opposites. Those of us living in progressive bubbles, mostly in major urban areas, just take diversity and acceptance for granted.

And I think too many of us fail to realize how bad things actually are outside our bubbles.

So, thanks for your story!
