So glad I ran into your article! You took the grumbled words right out of my mouth. As it happens, I write diverse stories, but the publishing game is hard and unwelcoming if what you write is outside the ordinary.

End crass promo mode. ;-) I think they’re better than Sparks’, though! At least more interesting and more filled with diverse and non-stereotypical characters.

My literary agent tells me she loves them. She laughed. She cried. Blah blah. Then she tells me they’re un-publishable. All the usual reasons of market share and genre restrictions.

As Sparks just keeps pumping out drivel.

Sigh…
