Sigh. As much as I’d like to think an article like this is satire, I grew up in that world and I know your story is deadly serious.
I live in a rural part of western Michigan dominated by conservative, Evangelical Christians. Mask and vaccine issues are turning violent here right now. School board members and county health workers are being targeted not just with threats but with actual violence because they’re trying to follow state health guidelines drawn up to keep people, particularly children, safe from a deadly virus.
The controversy is intense, and it’s Christians leading the pack screaming for blood — many of them saying they trust God, not vaccines, to protect them from covid.
Nothing seems to faze them, not even when faithful Christians die of covid after refusing to take precautions.
It’s sheer insanity. It’s like a demonic madness has taken over the population. And I say that as an atheist.
