Shortly after Trump was first elected, or perhaps during the election campaign, a cisgender,straight, young friend of mine asserted with utter confidence that Michelle Obama is a transgender woman.

I laughed, because I thought he was joking. He told me he was completely serious, and that it was obvious, and that everybody knows it.

"Just look at her," he said.

I rolled my eyes and started to argue, but it immediately became clear that he would not be swayed.
