Shoot, I personally remember this being a problem as late as 2017, when an 18-year-old gay friend of mine directed my attention to an on-line conversation where a straight age peer of his was arguing quite vociferously that saying "that's so gay" should be acceptable. He claimed the negative usage carries no actual ill intent toward actual gay people and that queer people who object to it are bringing unnecessary problems down on themselves. (Sigh.)

So, yeah, in 1999? Of course you didn't know how to push back.

I love how this film got under your skin and made you think so hard for so long. Isn't that what great art is supposed to do? Thanks very much for the story!
