Self immolation as protest cannot possibly be dismissed as mental illness. The people described in this article are heroes who put the needs and the suffering of brutalized/persecuted people above their own needs. That is heroic and admirable.

If they were actually mentally ill, then humanity needs a lot more of that sort of "illness." I suspect the world would be a much more gentle and loving place if that were the case.
