See the stunning new Belgian film "Close" for an exploration of the development of toxic male behavior during boyhood as a result of peer pressure.
The film took second place at Cannes and has been nominated for an Academy Award. It examines the close, tender relationship between two boys who have been friends all their lives. Then, as adolescence begins, pressure to conform to tough, desensitized male behavior destroys the friendship and (in some ways) the boys — a crystalized example of the harm male-supremist culture does to men.
