Sadly, I could imagine it, because I lived through the AIDS crisis when Republican pols (and even some Democrats!) used to publicly proclaim that we queer people deserved to die of AIDS because of our "immorality."

Humankind's capacity for evil never shocks me. I expect it.

But I also expect that the best of us will fight and resist, and sometimes prevail. We know how to do this. We CAN win!
