Right? I've visited countries where mixed-sex public restrooms with private cubicles are the norm, and civilization doesn't seem to be failing. I don't understand what the big deal is supposed to be. I think your partner's fears are very common among trans people; they certainly are among the trans people I know. I guess this story helps explain why.
