Right? I will never forget how long it took to get a president of the United States to even say the word AIDS in a public address, let alone push for the kind of real funding that was needed to combat HIV.

Of course, not to focus on just the negative, I also remember all the wonderful people who started wearing red ribbons in public to symbolize the need to fight back. It took a long time, but the best of human nature finally prevailed. I mean, we still have a lot of work to do and prejudice is still causing serious problems, but not like at first.

I can only hope that the best of human nature finally prevails with the covid-19 pandemic.
