Right! But I was actually referring to Gene Robison, an Episcopal priest in a same-sex committed relationship who in 2003 became the first out gay Episcopalian to become a bishop. There was ... controversy. But the Episcopal Church didn't back down so much as an inch.

His husband (they legally married after the 2015 Obergefell decision) was one of the people Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby barred from breaking bread with the rest of the world's Anglican bishops and spouses.
