Reminds that I just read an article about the superintendent of the Houston School district defending his punishing a Black student for wearing dreadlocks. (And the punishment has been extreme.)
The superintendent, who is a Republican, actually says that it's important for students to learn to conform.
I find that show shocking coming out of the mouth of a supporter of the GOP, which at least used to be the party of rugged individualism.
I never thought I would hear a conservative American literally demanding conformity. (I mean I realize they often want conformity; it's just not something they usually say since it contradicts their stated ideals.)
