Reminds me that when I lived in Detroit I used to see pheasants all the time. Pheasants aren’t rare in Michigan, but you don’t just see them running around, not typically.
But you sure do if you live in certain neighborhoods of Detroit! Apparently, they have adapted very well to the urban environment. Michigan Department of Natural Resources say the population is dense, and they will even live trap pheasants to remove them to rural areas that need help establishing vigorous populations.
I would often see a pheasant every day in Detroit. Now that I live out in the country where pheasant populations are large, I never see one. 🤣
