Reminds me of my own canvassing days when I was in college! The characters! (Meaning the canvassers like me, lol.) We worried more about the deadly Iowa winters than deadly subtropical heat, but weather was often a problem.

I did that for more than 2 years, off and on, depending on what else I was doing, and I've subconsciously assumed that as an autistic person my turning out to be a successful canvasser was an anomaly, that I had beat the odds.

But it sounds like maybe not so much.

You know, New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the world. The unique food, the gorgeous architecture, but mostly the warm people.

It's tragic how much the state of Louisiana is waging war on transgender people. It's one of the most regressive states in the Union, made possiblemostly by an intensely conservative electorate outside the city.

I don't know why conservative people are so anxious to hurt transgender people, but the evidence is undeniable. They certainly do want to hurt trans and other LGBTQ people, and they'll pass all sorts of laws to that effect. Going in as a canvassser to win over one heart at a time is the work of the angels.

Thank you! And thanks for sharing this important story.
