Remember that 10-year-old girl in Ohio who had to travel to Indiana for an abortion after she was raped?
The Republicans tried everything they could to distract from the issue that a 10-year-old rape victim could not legally terminate her pregnancy in Ohio.
One thing they did was go after the Indiana doctor. Indiana's attorney general publicly accused her of failing to report the abortion. Only it turned out she had done all her reporting paperwork correctly. The attorney general's claims were groundless, and the doctor has threatened to sue for defamation.
But you know what's getting overlooked in this story? That doctor was legally obligated to report the abortion to the state. Not because a child was involved, but because Indiana doctors are legally obligated to report all abortions to the state.
How creepy is that?
I don't know about you, but when I go see my doctor, I don't expect they're going to be forwarding my private health information to the government.
You bet your ass women are being spied on, and in many states new laws aren't even needed. It's happening right now. Just like in Indiana.
