Really. When I was growing up, it was mainstream teaching in Evangelical Christian churches in the US that God created races of people — red, yellow, black, and white-- and that he intends for the races to live apart and be separate from one another.

Many white Christians still believe that today, moreso in our southern states.

The Christians who would send missionaries to Africa vehemently would oppose a white person marrying a black person.

We used to have laws against “intermarriage,” and those laws were based on mainstream Christian theology.

When I was boy, people clung stubbornly to those theologies, though younger people today have mostly abandoned them.

Mostly.
