Really? I ally myself and the LGBTQ struggle with many left-wing Christian friends, and I’m about as progressive politically as is possible for a person to be. But my point remains. Institutional homophobia is endemic and pervasive in the United States, driven by organized Christianity, a position I have backed up with data in my writing several times.

The author of this article has her head buried in the sand about that.

She sounds like those people who cry “not all men” or “not all white people” when sexism and racism are discussed.

No, clearly not all Christians are homophobic, but just as clearly, the vast majority of Christians in the United States are homophobic. Data from Pew and PRRI demonstrate that with clarity. Christianity in the United States drives homophobic bigotry and causes enormous suffering.

If Christians want to know why people increasingly don’t like them, they should think on that.
