Quite the same with conservative U.S. Christians, really. In my youth and early adulthood, Christian churches often condemned all "rock" music as literally demonic, and sometimes they held bonfires to burn albums and drive the demons away.

These days, that level of nonsense is mostly reserved for the metal and punk genres, and you occasionally still hear about church bonfires.
