Quite, and while I am critical of the Amish for many reasons, this guy is lying or ignorant about their practices.

The Amish are certainly not feminists, and they do believe in strictly defined gender roles. However, women are not restricted to their homes unless in the company of men. I know that because I live among the Amish. Women are out on their own constantly.

And it is false and misleading to suggest that Amish girls are deprived of education after 13 years old. The truth is that all Amish children stop going to school after they are 14, whether they are boys or girls.

That’s a big problem, and something I’ve written about, but it’s not directed against girls in particular. In education, Amish boys and girls are treated equally.

And it bears emphasizing that the Amish are not violent. Comparing them to the Taliban is both obscene and absurd.

Which I’m pretty sure Nour, in his apparent defense of the Taliban, understands perfectly well.
