Quite a fascinating history! Virginia Woolf was an amazing woman and human being, not to mention a brilliant artist.
Did you know that as a member of the so-called Bloomsbury set that she was also a pioneer in LGBTQ history? The Bloomsbury group, sort of intellectually intertwined with the earlier Uraniums, pushed back in some ways quite explicitly against the mores of Victorian sexuality and heterosexism.
By the way, if you haven’t seen the 2002 film The Hours, in which Woolf features, it’s a serious treat.
