Powerful testimonial, thanks! I don't think people who didn't live through the worst of the HIV/AIDS crisis can ever fully appreciate the fear and despair we lived with in the 80s and 90s, but that's okay. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!

I count myself incredibly lucky to be negative.

I was pretty careful (but not perfectly careful) with safer sex after I understood what HIV was, but I came out and was sexually active while HIV was circulating — but before we knew what the deal was.

So, there but for the grace of God, as they say.

Stories like yours are inspiring and instructive. HIV should have already been mostly eliminated from circulation in the United States. We have all the medical technology and infrastructure to make that happen, but apathy still reigns.

Access to health care system is too broken.

Homophobia hinders us in conservative states.

So, educational voices like yours are much needed.
