Philosophically, the problem of animal suffering is profound.

The idea that a god exists who is all powerful, all knowing, and all loving cannot survive an examination of a created world when we look at animal suffering.

The fact that it’s baked into the system shows us that something about the common Western characterization of God cannot be correct.

That’s presuming any God exists at all, which is not a presumption I tend to make.
