Perhaps you missed the bit about police ignoring public complaints about men and women making out on public beaches (common behavior in public spaces) while the same police go undercover and target gay men cruising for sex that happened in places where people couldn’t see them.

I’m not writing about people having sex in public. I’m almost 60 years old, and I’ve been around the gay demi-monde. I’ve never once seen gay men cruising public spaces and then having sex in public.

I have seen straight couples cruising. Only among straight people, it’s called flirting. And it’s socially acceptable. People even think it’s cute.

Yet cops arrest gay men for agreeing to have sex after the cop makes a proposition that can often involve the cop exposing himself.

If you’re a little lost, you might ask yourself why public displays of straight sexually are tolerated but not displays of gay sexuality.
