Par for the course. When my front cover article appeared in the Washington Blade calling out Biden for not making the LGBTQ Equality Act a top priority of his administration after repeatedly and forcibly promising to do so on the campaign trail, the White House called my editor, outraged, demanding a retraction and even providing the text of an article they wanted him to print instead.

My editor refused in both instances. The article was simply a regurgitation of the good things that Biden has done for the LGBTQ community, but that absolutely any Democratic president would have done. (LGBTQ Nation did print it.)

We are calling Biden out for breaking his promise. He promised to champion the Equality Act, and then he never mentioned it again. Even after my article came out, and the White House communications office became so angry, Biden has still not mentioned the Equality Act to the public.

Sometimes I think politicians have a very different idea about honesty and transparency than ordinary people do. Biden obviously thinks it's okay to make promises and then drop them or ignore them.

Most people don't think that's okay, in fact most people think that's a serious character defect in a human being.

If Biden is confused about why he is dropping so precipitously in the polls, he should consider this.
