Opposition to same-sex marriage is homophobic in and of itself. In the United States, the opposition is almost completely religious.

You can call that a reaction to leftists if you like, but you're not being coherent or interesting.

Homophobes will tell you exactly why they oppose same-sex marriage. They aren't kidding. They aren't making it up.

They aren't merely responding to leftists being "unkind" to them. They're sincere.

It's easy to succumb to "blame the victim" mentality. I would urge you to transcend that kind of thinking.
