One would hope that would be a self-evident assumption, but all over the United States religious institutions, from the largest mainstream ones to the most extreme, operate as if excluding LGBTQ people were a critical part of their freedom to practice religion.
All I can say is that if their religion really does compel them to mistreat people, their religion is deeply problematic. Since most of the religious institutions that do this are Christian, it’s more than just a head scratcher — it’s all but impossible to reconcile with the tenets of Christianity.
