One day, you should study the documented history of the beginnings of belief in hell and eternal tortuous damnation. These ideas did not exist, or only existed in vestigial form, for much of (many centuries!) the early history of Christianity, and for that matter, Islam.

But fear of eternal flames proved quite an effective tactic in both converting newcomers, and controlling existing believers.

Historians demonstrate quite an obvious competition between Christianity and Islam (and internally) to ramp up the fear to gain religious dominance.

It's amazing to me that in spite of how clear the obvious human manufacturing, people STILL choose to believe these nonsensical ideas.

I mean, they don't even hold together theologically without waving a magic wand and talking about how God is too mysterious to understand.
