On a related but slightly different note, I have a novel in the editing process at Random House. My editor is Mean with a capital M.

By which I mean she tells me exactly what she thinks about my writing, and exactly what she thinks I need to do to make it better. I listen to her because she knows what the f*** she’s doing. She’s only been doing it for 30 years.

So I can whine about how mean she is, or I can suck it up and be thankful she’s willing to spend hours on my manuscript.

I choose the latter.

Medium editors are pussy cats.

Just sayin.
