Oh, yes! I wrote an article a few months back about hysteria over how Internet porn is killing men’s libidos. I wrote it from a gay man’s perspective, because I write an advice column for LGBT youth. A young man had written in wanting to know if failure to achieve a satisfying erection (once!) with his partner was due to porn. I reassured him and advised him that all men sometimes have that problem, that it’s natural and expected as long as it’s rare.

I cited a little research and cautioned against addiction. I thought my column was really quite responsible and even handed. But, wow! You should have seen some of the responses. Lots and lots of people are really just convinced that porn is irredeemably toxic. And they become quite emotional about it.
