Oh, totally. I might have been a little tone-deaf there. Two hundred dollars is a lot more than I make for most of my Medium stories. It’s just that for half a million readers (even if they are external readers), it seems on the stingy side. ;-)

The whole viral thing is really a little embarrassing. I’ve spent days writing seriously well researched stories in areas I actually have expertise and training in, and some of them might even be on the moderately good side. You know, objectively.

But none of THEM get hundreds of thousands of views. Then two and a half years ago, I whipped out that SA piece. Just between you and me, it’s not very good. Medium agreed. It didn’t get curated. It didn’t deserve to be curated.

But by the whims of the fickle fates of the inscrutable Google algorithm, tons of people read it. If I’d known that was going to happen, I would have written it a lot more carefully.

So all in all? I’ll take the 200.00 and not complain. lol
