Oh really? I won't get into the weeds over your historical examples, but I will point out that today, right now, the Roman Catholic Church is one of the most viciously sexist institutions in society. No woman in the Roman Catholic Church wields power or authority over men. Men rule, women serve. Pope Francis refuses to allow women into even the deaconate let alone the priesthood. He flatly refuses to hand power and authority to women.

Catholic clerics are, as a class, sexist pigs who refuse to recognize that women are and must be equal human beings to men.

Progressive Protestant churches have begun the work to overturn historic institutional sexism, but Evangelical Christian churches tend to be as vicious, sexist, and disgusting as the Roman Catholic Church.

Sexism is evil, but churches prop it up every day, all the time, right now.

That must end. Religion must never be used as an excuse to prop up bigotry.
