You know, if you go to the Detroit area to a deliver a political speech, you'd better be up on automotive policy. You'd better have something important to say.

I know the Trump campaign knows that. I'm sure they briefed Trump on at least the basic hot-button issues automotive workers and managers in Detroit care about.

The fact that he couldn't come up with anything to interest his audience? That takes special skill.

You need to be really gifted to go to Detroit and not be able to say anything important about the automotive industry ... except that you once gave a speech a long time ago ... in which you noted that you didn't know anything about the automotive industry.
