Of course that also means that some of the closest people to you, the people you should be able to go to for support, aren't able or willing to give you that support. I couldn't talk to my own mother after my partner Lenny died. Dad flew in to help me make necessary arrangements, but of course mostly just to be there for me. If his attitude had been like my mom's, I don't know what I would have done. I mean, I would have done what had to be done, but it would have been a lot harder emotionally. And let me tell you, it was hard enough already.
