Nuno — you’re advocating doing nothing or next to nothing to help egregiously persecuted queer people in Russia. Your position is shameful, whether you like it or not.

You’re arguing that we do nothing except wave a few flags while you sit back and cheer on your team.

Again — shame on you. Wake up.

Do you want to know what would have made queer people in Russia feel really supported and encouraged? Refusing to allow the games to be played in Russia.

That would have sent a powerful signal and made a real difference.

Don’t pretend you’re arguing for bridge building and change. You aren’t. You’re arguing for comfort and complacency.

Boycotts work whether you like it or not. You’re wrong, and you need to stop being immoral by inaction.

Have you sent money to queer groups in Russia? Did you join Peter Tatchell protesting the games in Red Square?

Didn’t think so.

Turn off the football. Stop cheering your national football team. Go do something that matters.

Get real.
