Not only that, but there's quite a loud movement on the US right to embrace Putin for what he's doing. That's become more difficult since the invasion of Ukraine, as Republicans have had to moderate their messaging to appeal to a traditional anti-Russia base, but that doesn't stop the right from embracing other authoritarian, anti-democratic regimes (like Hungary) that oppress LGBTQ people.
