Nobody except fanatical religious believers who deny science and history think that Moses was anything but a mythical figure.

Civilizations arose independently at least six or seven times in human history, including in Mesopotamia, where a king named Hammurabi created a law code at least a millennium before anyone wrote down the relatively primitive Ten Commandments — which are mostly about violently forcing the worship of a jealous tribal god. (People who aren't familiar with the Ten Commandments should read them and see what I mean.)

Every human civilization has featured law codes. Our systems of laws in Europe and the United States mostly come from Greek and Roman legal principles that arose in isolation from the Jewish religion, Moses, or the Ten Commandments.

The idea that Moses is "the original lawgiver" is every bit as unfounded as the idea that the Earth was only created 6,000 years ago or that Noah's flood literally happened.

This is quite a disturbing trying among conservative Christians: Deny real history and push superstitious nonsense instead. This is part of what makes conservative Christianity so dangerous.

Conservative Christians don't value facts and reality. They prefer to remain ignorant and stupid.
