New policy for that school district requires that parents sign permission slips for their children to attend any event featuring an outside speaker.

Ok. I think that's stupid, but it is what it is. Maybe I can even agree that district officials are simply trying to protect themselves from a conservative state government out to get them.

Nothing in the new policy requires district officials to send him a note reducing any speaker to "African American."

Nothing whatsoever.

Whoever wrote that note to parents is a racist animal. The note should have said that students would be listening to an author talking about ... whatever the author was going to talk about. Duh?

I don't even know what the author was going to be talking about, but presumably whatever it was was pretty important since the school invited him.

But then some racist animal composed that horrifying racist note.

This is where we are now. This is how racist and awful so many of us are.

I despair.
