My sister certainly struggled with that! We both attended a quite conservative private Christian school, with a quite conventional dress code.

That means she had to wear skirts, and was forbidden to wear shorts or pants. I'm talking about when she was 9 and 10. So while we boys went out to recess and ran around and played on monkey bars and things, the girls had to stay demur, relatively inactive. They certainly could not join us on the monkey bars, because then we could see their underwear. And they would be punished.

I don't know why I rebelled and my sister became a staunch conservative. I don't know why she accepted the limitations placed on her, even though she was quite angry about it when she was 10.

I really don't understand why much of our society does that.

I love your thrilling call for change!
