My partner and Lenny and I absolutely adored her, and listened to her every chance we got. So did many gay men and other LGBTQ people, because she was famously accepting and affirming, when being so was much less the norm than it is today.

And she accepted the gay community's embrace with open arms, which was also not always the case.
