My little cat Elsa, a lovely domestic shorthair of no particular breeding distinction, is spending more time lounging in the shade on the porch than I ever would have thought she would.

She’s normally quite a dedicated outdoors kitty, but the “dog days" have domesticated her a tad.

She’ll happily bask in the sun early on in the day, but in the heat of the afternoon she can usually be found taking shelter.
