My jaw dropped yesterday when I heard that judge rebuke Congressperson Waters. As an elected representative of the American people and a respected moral leader, she has more responsibility to speak out than the average American. She had to speak out.
We all watched Derek Chauvin deliberately, cruelly, brutally murder George Floyd. We all heard the eyewitnesses testify to their trauma as they stood there on that street right as it happened watching that evil brutal racist cop do what so many brutal racist cops do constantly.
As I write this comment, I already know Chauvin was convicted of all counts, but Maxine Waters didn’t know what was going to happen.
She had a positive moral duty to speak out before the verdict and prepare people for what they had to do if racism won again.
If that judge doesn’t like it, he can shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. His comment lecturing and chastising her was disgusting. There is clearly something deeply morally broken about him as a human being.
But you know what? It doesn’t matter. Ms. Waters is going to do what she has to do. And nothing that asshole can do will stop her. She’s faced up to much more vile people than him.
She is a true American hero.
