My friend is a plant manager, with serious responsibilities, but much of his job is about decision making and networking. He can do a good bit of it away from the plant, perfectly efficiently. His wife is a medical technician who can only work by putting hands on machines and patients. Yet when one of their small children get sick, my friend’s boss has a cow if he takes time to go home and care for the child. He expects “the wife” to do it. “That’s a mother thing.” So, yeah.
