My childhood experiences were very similar to yours, John Spiers. Baptist or non-denominational like-Baptist is what I knew. I experienced other religions similarly to the way you did.

Then, I joined the Marine Corps. Chapel was all but obligatory during boot camp. Services were sort of a generic mainline High Protestant.

I had no idea what I was experiencing. It didn’t feel like church in the way I thought of church.

I didn’t know where it fit into my notions.
