Most of the Russians I know who are keeping up with the news are aware that reputable English-language news sources like the Guardian, Reuters, the BBC, CNN, USA Today, NBC News, etc, are not paywalled. It'd be nice to see flagship press like the New York Times and the Washington Post take down their paywalls in Russia for a while, but I can't see how their paywalls stand significantly in the way of Russian people receiving news.
