‘Moon Over Berlin’ is heading to Athens!

Or is it? Juliette is taking charge of the details of the plan. Mark is plotting to get them all safely into West Germany. But Bill smells a rat, and Peltsin is scheming. And Dima? Why is Juliette so worried about him?

Author’s Notes:

The relationship between Bill and Ian is complicated and possibly confusing to people who never served in the military. Bill is a senior enlisted person, a noncommissioned officer nearing the end of a long career. Ian technically outranks him.

Apart from his analyst job in the warning center, Bill is the superintendent, responsible for the health and welfare of every Flight enlisted person. He watches over junior airmen closely, given that being just out of high school, many still need time to become mature and responsible.

Ian is not technically Bill’s responsibility, but in actual practice, junior officers are taught to to show deference and respect to senior NCOs. Good senior NCOs often mentor and guide junior officers. Given senior NCOs’ extensive networks and relationships with senior officers, they tend to wield a great deal of power. A few words of criticism from Bill to the right people could torpedo Ian’s career, something Ian is well aware of.
