My friends and I loved Mykonos, but it was a little exhausting. The girls always worried about fashion and how they looked. I did too, stressing about cruising and fitting in with other gay guys, which I had little experience with in my early and mid twenties. Ios was more our speed, with its more casual, spring-break, backpacker vibe. The hotel bartender and his son, who will soon play key roles in this story, are drawn from real life.
